Blends: several peptides in one injection

Last updated 3 days ago

If one vial holds more than one peptide, add it as a blend: in My Protocols, or from the Calculator on Home. Peptimes then tracks it as one protocol, shown with the blend icon (a stack of layers).

Add a blend in My Protocols

  1. Tap "+" at the bottom of the screen, then "Add a Protocol". You can also open Profile → "My Protocols" (or tap "Protocols" on Home) and tap the green "+".
  2. Under "ADD A PROTOCOL", choose "Blend".
  3. Pick each peptide (two to four; "Add a peptide" adds another) and enter how many mg of it the vial's label says.
  4. Enter the water you added. Then, under "How much you draw each time", choose one:
    • "Units I draw": type the units you draw on a U-100 insulin syringe (100 units = 1 mL).
    • "One peptide's amount": tap one of the blend's peptides, type your amount of it and choose mg or mcg. The card shows "Draw about … units". If you then tap a different peptide, the amount clears, so type it again.
"Each dose gives you" shows each peptide's amount. If you already know each peptide's amount, tap "Know each peptide's dose already? Type the amounts instead".
  5. Optional: give it a name under "NAME (OPTIONAL)".
  6. Tap "Continue to schedule", set the schedule, and tap "Save Schedule ✓".

If the numbers don't work, the card says why and shows no result. For example: "That's more than 100 units, a full 1 mL U-100 syringe.", "That's less than 1 unit, too small to draw accurately.", "Enter [peptide]'s mg from the label first." or "Enter the water you added first." The card only works with the numbers you enter. As it says: "Peptimes doesn't suggest amounts or combinations."

Or from the Calculator

  1. On Home, tap the "Calculator" card.
  2. Open the "Blend Dose" tab.
  3. Under "Shared BAC Water", enter the water in the vial.
  4. Under "Peptides in the vial", pick each peptide and enter how much of it the vial holds. Picking a peptide fills in only its name, and switching a row to another peptide clears its amount. Use "+ Add Peptide to Blend" for more (a blend has two to four peptides). You enter the water and every amount yourself.
  5. Under "Syringe Size", choose your syringe, then enter "UNITS TO DRAW".
  6. Optional: give it a name under "CUSTOM BLEND NAME (OPTIONAL)".
  7. Tap "Add Blend to Protocols". Every peptide you've picked needs its amount first. If one is missing, you'll see "Enter every amount", with the peptide named: "Enter the amount of [peptide] in the vial." Once the blend is complete, the "Set Blend Protocol" sheet opens.
  8. Check each peptide's amount under "BLEND DOSES", set the schedule, and tap "Save Schedule ✓".

The "Add Blend to Protocols" button is in the Calculator you open from Home, not the one in Profile.

"Already in another protocol"

Each peptide can belong to only one protocol. If a peptide in your blend is already tracked on its own or in another blend, Peptimes can't create the blend; in My Protocols, such a peptide is greyed out and marked "Already in a protocol". Either leave that peptide out of the blend, or remove the other protocol in My Protocols first. Removing a protocol keeps the doses you've already logged.

Logging a blend

  • One log covers the whole blend.
  • To check off a scheduled blend dose, tap "Log" on its row on Home, or tap its reminder.
  • In "Log a Dose", the blend shows each peptide's amount under "Blend dose". Change any amount if you took something different.
  • "Units drawn": if you made the blend from the vial (with "Units I draw" or "One peptide's amount" in My Protocols, or in the Calculator), "Log a Dose" also shows "Units drawn". Type the units you drew on the syringe, and each peptide's amount fills in from the vial you saved with the blend. If you then change an amount by hand, "Units drawn" clears, so the amounts are always what's saved. The units you typed are kept with the dose, and "Dose Summary" shows them ("Units drawn · 20 units").
  • A blend added with "Type the amounts instead" doesn't show "Units drawn", because Peptimes doesn't know its vial. To get it, remove the blend in My Protocols and add it again from the vial. Removing a protocol keeps the doses you've already logged.
  • In your history, the blend appears as one entry, under the name you gave it (or its peptides' names). Tap it to see each peptide's amount.

Changing a blend

You can change a blend's schedule and amounts with "Edit" in My Protocols. You can't change which peptides are in it. To do that, remove the blend and add it again. If you change a blend's amounts with "Edit", Peptimes stops using the vial saved with it, and "Units drawn" no longer shows when you log it.
