Reminders not arriving? Try these steps

Last updated 11 days ago

Most missing reminders come down to an iPhone setting, a Peptimes switch, or a protocol without a schedule. Work through these checks in order.

1. Allow notifications on your iPhone

  1. Open your iPhone's Settings → "Notifications" → "Peptimes".
  2. Turn on "Allow Notifications".
  3. Check that "Lock Screen", "Notification Center" and "Banners" are on, and that "Sounds" is on if you want to hear them.

If you tapped "Don't Allow" when Peptimes first asked, your iPhone won't ask again. Turn it on here instead. Then close Peptimes completely and open it again.

2. Check Peptimes' own switches

Open Profile → "Notifications" and check that these are on:

  • "Enable Reminders"
  • "Dose reminders"
  • "Daily check-in", for the check-in reminder

3. Check the protocol has a schedule

Open Profile → "My Protocols":

  • Protocols under "ACTIVE" get reminders.
  • Protocols under "MANUAL" or "NEEDS SETUP" don't. Tap "Set Schedule" to add a schedule.

4. Check Focus and Do Not Disturb

A Focus (such as Sleep or Work) or Do Not Disturb can hold back reminders. Either allow Peptimes in that Focus, or check Notification Center afterwards.

See Apple's guide: https://support.apple.com/guide/iphone/iph21d43af5b/ios

5. No sound?

Peptimes reminders play a notification sound. If you don't hear it:

  • check that your iPhone isn't on silent;
  • check that "Sounds" is on in Settings → "Notifications" → "Peptimes".

6. Using "Every X Days"?

These reminders are set at least two weeks ahead (further for longer gaps). They're refreshed when Peptimes starts, and whenever you log a dose or change a schedule or setting. To refresh them, close Peptimes completely (swipe it away in the app switcher) and open it again.

7. New iPhone, reinstalled app, or after "Reset All Data"?

After "Reset All Data", reminders start again once your protocols have schedules.

On a new iPhone or after reinstalling, your protocols aren't there yet, so add them again. See "New phone, reinstalling, or starting over".

If your iPhone hasn't been asked before, Peptimes asks once, after you sign in, whether it can send notifications. Tap "Allow". If you tap "Don't Allow", "Enable Reminders" turns off. To get reminders after that, allow notifications in your iPhone's Settings (step 1), then turn "Enable Reminders" back on (step 2).

I got a reminder for a dose I'd already logged

  • "Not logged" alert: if you logged the dose with "+", check that you chose its time, not "An extra dose", when Peptimes asked "Is this a scheduled dose?". See "A dose says "Not logged", or the count looks wrong".
  • Dose reminder: if you logged it early, its reminder may still arrive. You don't need to log it again.
  • Reminders after a cycle ended: remove the protocol in My Protocols to stop them.
