Dose amounts and units: mg, mcg and IU
Last updated 11 days ago
Peptimes records amounts in mcg, mg or, for a few compounds, IU. Always check the unit before you save.
Check the unit before you save
The same number in the wrong unit is a very different amount: 1 mg is 1,000 mcg. Before you tap save, check that the highlighted unit is the one on your plan. After switching units, check that the number still means what you intended.
mg and mcg
- mg is milligrams. mcg is micrograms.
- 1 mg = 1,000 mcg.
- In "Log a Dose", switching between mg and mcg converts the number you typed.
IU
IU (international units) is offered for:
- Oxytocin
- HCG
- HMG (Menotropins)
- Follitropin (FSH)
- Calcitonin (salmon)
- HGH (Somatropin)
Peptimes never converts IU to mg or mcg. If you switch to or from IU, the amount is cleared so you can type it again.
Can I log in mL, syringe units or pen clicks?
No. Doses are logged in mg, mcg or IU. To work out syringe units from your vial, use the Calculator. See "Syringe units, mg and mcg explained".
"Use at most … decimal places"
Amounts can have up to 6 decimal places in mg, 3 in mcg and 2 in IU. If you see this message, shorten the number.
Does Peptimes suggest an amount?
No. Peptimes records the amounts you enter or schedule yourself. Don't use it to choose your dose; ask a licensed clinician.
